Default July 12th Public Test Information - Update 07/13

Update
Test extended beyond Monday, July 12th!

After a weekend of hard work preparations for tomorrow's public test are nearly complete! Below we have included information about how the test will be conducted which should help to answer many of your questions. We're currently still working on ironing a few things out, so please bear with us.

Time
Monday, July 12th in the AM (EST). We have no exact uptime, but barring any unforeseen circumstances the servers should open in the morning. Rich is burning the midnight oil making last minute fixes!

Location
Because the team had higher priorities than setting up a special teleportation system simply for this event, all players will start at the north side of the Aeldreth safe zone. This will allow for players to setup their gear in safety and socialize in this general area without fearing harassment, but also allows those who would like to engage in PvP to do so by crossing the safezone boundary.

Training
All new characters are automatically set to level ten and given 50 trains in each skill line they have available to them at this level (depending on base class). As far as powers, any power that the class has available to it will be set to one train, unless the power is specifically granted at a higher level for that class. It is also worth noting that no characters will be promoted from their base class, this test is specifically for testing base class powers and ensuring that everything is in order up until that point.

Gear and Items
A vault keeper will be placed at the spawn point where players may access their vault. When the vault is opened it will automatically be filled with 50% and 75% items for the player to use on his/her characters. This will be within the safezone so that there is no need to fear being killed while equipping your character.

Bug Reporting
Reporting any bugs or glitches that you encounter is the central focus of this event, and we ask that you do so in the Bug Reporting forum. This will greatly assist the team and help us make the next full public preview a more enjoyable experience!

Connecting to SBEmu
For those of you who have not already configured your fully patched (as of July 1st, 2009) Shadowbane client to connect to the SBEmu servers, please refer to this thread for instructions.

Troubleshooting
Below are possible resolutions to common problems a number of users have been experiencing. For additional assistance, please visit the Troubleshooting forum.
Invalid Username/Password
If you receive an error message indicating that you have an invalid username or password when attempting to login to Shadowbane it is likely that you have not created your game account. Please check to make certain that you have a game account by doing the following:
  1. User CP
  2. List Game Accounts
If you do not have any game accounts, you can create one in the User CP. After creating the account you should be able to login to Shadowbane with the game account name and your forum password.
  1. User CP
  2. Create Game Account
Unable to Pan Camera In-Game
It seems that Mouse Push is disabled by default on a number of clients. To re-enable this feature, follow the steps below when in-game:
  1. Settings
  2. Preferences
  3. System Settings (default tab)
  4. Check Mouse Push
Ventrilo
Much of the team can be found in the Ventrilo server included below. For the most up-to-date information and the ability to interact directly with some of the team, please join us! Please note that the Ventrilo has a 50 user limit, so you may not be able to immediately connect.

Acknowledgements
The team has worked tirelessly this weekend to prepare tomorrow's test, and we would like to acknowledge the efforts of all who sacrificed their weekend for the project. RichV has put in more than 80 hours in preparation for this event (not all over the weekend, he did sleep some). Eighty also worked hard preparing the vault system for use.

Otlichno, Claymore, and Murray all played their parts as well and without them this wouldn't have been possible. The testing team (as well as many design team members) also played a key role, helping us to test new fixes rapidly and get things ready on time.
