Generally I don't worry with warding beyond the first 10 trains (or what's necessary to get any class specific spells with a warding focus, e.g. Fury DAs), since P-stance typically gives me enough stun ATR to overcome the def a typical mage has with conc buffs + GM shielding (usually 750-900).

Do not waste points in warding - use precise stance and your mages debuffing capabilities to make sure it lands. Although mages generally aren't tight on points, there are always better places than warding to dump anything over 10 points. Zarae offers good advice on the subject.

Recognize the low atr and use it on those you know it will affect.

10 trains warding is a bad, bad idea if you are building a solo mage.

its a vamp wizard for startup. I wasted allot of points on pve spells and bloodcraft so its really tight on points. I could put 40 points in the warding without un-training anything

I always believed in 65% minimum warding. That was usually enough to get 1100ish atr in o-stance, and at least 1600-1700 in precise stance. I think I took it to 80% on my wizards, but usually never went higher than that as I was point-tight enough.

You might not have the points for it on a Vampire unless you plan to go Wizardry route, which you might already be and so this post might be pointless.
